How much of the potential in your
business are you actually accessing?

Tracy Clark mid-conversation

If you’re anything like the founders I love working with, you can probably already see far beyond the business you have today.

There is another market to enter, a bigger problem to solve, a product that doesn’t exist yet, perhaps an entire industry you believe could work differently.

That’s part of what I love about visionary founders. You see possibility everywhere.

The interesting question as you scale is whether the capacity of the organisation around you is expanding fast enough to help you realise it.

And that isn’t simply about adding more people. It’s about expanding and amplifying the leadership capacity already inside the business, including yours.

Scaling statement image

Because scaling isn’t simply about building a bigger organisation. It’s about expanding what that organisation is capable of.

Where do you create disproportionate value?

One of the things that fascinates me about visionary founders is their ability to see what other people don’t.

You may have built the company because you questioned something everybody else accepted, saw an opportunity others dismissed or believed something was possible long before there was much evidence that it was.

Yet as the business grows, founders can find themselves spending less and less time doing exactly that. Your days fill with people issues, meetings, operational decisions and problems that somehow keep finding their way back to you.

Of course some of that is part of being CEO.

But there’s a more interesting question:

Where does your particular genius create the greatest commercial value, and how much of your time and energy are you actually able to put there?

As the business scales, where you focus your energy becomes increasingly important.

The opportunity is to spend more of it where your particular genius creates disproportionate value, where you expand what’s possible for the business by challenging the status quo, questioning the apparently obvious answer, seeing opportunities others haven’t seen and creating conviction around an ambitious future.

This is where Intense Curiosity, Radical Open-Mindedness and Proactive Experimentation become commercially catalytic.

What aren’t we seeing?
What are we assuming?
What if the constraint everyone accepts isn’t actually a constraint?

Sometimes the biggest commercial shifts begin with the willingness to ask a different question.

Foundation → Alignment → Execution → Expansion → Legacy

Scaling architecture

What if your leadership team could expand what’s possible too?

You’ve hired talented people for a reason.

The commercial value of a great leadership team isn’t simply having more people available to execute your ideas. It’s having more intelligence, innovation, creativity and capability available to the business.

Someone sees something you haven’t seen.

Someone challenges an assumption and changes the quality of the decision.

Someone gets to the root of a difficult problem.

Someone spots an opportunity and has the confidence and judgement to act without everything travelling back through you.

You’re not simply adding execution capacity. You’re increasing the organisation’s capacity to think, challenge, solve, create and lead.

You scale by increasing and amplifying what the people around you are capable of thinking, deciding, solving, owning and creating, without everything flowing back through you.

And great leadership doesn’t simply access more of the capability people already have. It creates the conditions in which that capability itself can expand, and your leaders increasingly learn to do the same for others.

That’s when leadership capability starts becoming commercial capacity.

Capability→ Possibility→ Opportunity→ Value Creation

More capability can mean better thinking, stronger decisions and greater ownership. It can surface possibilities and opportunities the business may otherwise have missed, and increase its capacity to turn more of them into action, growth and value.

Expand the potential of the people and you expand the potential of the business.

From Inadvertent Bottleneck to Catalyst of Catalysts

Some of the very strengths that helped build the business can also make it harder for others to step up.

The opportunity isn’t to suppress those strengths. It’s to become increasingly intentional about how you use them, and increasingly catalytic in what your leadership creates around you.

Self-Catalyst

Self-Catalyst

Become increasingly intentional about how you think, lead and respond, challenging assumptions, expanding what’s possible, exploring who you need to become for the next stage, and focusing more of your energy where your particular genius creates disproportionate value.

Expand what’s possible in yourself.

Catalyst

Catalyst

Bring your own thinking, ideas and judgement while creating the conditions for other people to bring more of theirs.

Expand the quality of thinking around you. Unlock greater ownership, challenge, resourcefulness and creativity, and create the conditions in which the capability of the people around you can grow.

Expand and amplify what’s possible in others.

Catalyst of Catalysts

Catalyst of Catalysts

Develop leaders who create that same expansion around them, increasing the thinking, confidence, ownership and capability of the people they lead.

As they become Catalysts themselves, leadership capacity begins to multiply throughout the organisation.

Expand what’s possible through others.

And this matters particularly when the pressure rises.

I don’t believe Catalytic leadership is about lowering the ambition, intensity or standards that helped build the business.

Quite the opposite.

Catalytic leadership doesn’t remove pressure. It transforms pressure into energy, momentum and greater capability, rather than stress, dependency and constraint.

The founder remains extraordinarily valuable.

But increasingly, their leadership makes other people more valuable too.

“Working with Tracy has been eye-opening and a great experience. She has genuinely helped me advance, provided strategy, and helped greatly to get clarity on my goals and vision. It was the base for being able to transform my business and starting a couple of new ones. My leadership team has stepped up as Multipliers which has really helped drive the growth of the business”

Miles Lovegrove
Founder & Chief Integration Officer - Brand Revolution

“I am absolutely flabbergasted at the change in myself and my team… I am also so impressed with the engagement I am now getting from my team.”

Miranda Hope, Finance Director, Fluid Branding

“Tracy helped me advance and liberate my thinking… and helped me transform my business and increase revenue, while working considerably less than before.”

How could we work together?

I don’t start with a leadership programme and try to fit you into it.

I start with curiosity, about you, the business you’re building, where you’re trying to take it and where increasing leadership capacity could make the greatest commercial difference.

Then we shape the work around what will create the greatest value.

Work with me 1:1

For founders who want a Catalytic Thought Partner alongside them as they scale.

Our conversations move naturally between you and the business. We might challenge an assumption shaping an important decision, explore your impact on the team or look at whether enough of your energy is going towards the areas where you create disproportionate value.

I bring commercial experience, curiosity, challenge and another perspective, helping you see more, question what may previously have seemed obvious and expand the quality of your thinking.

Work with me + your leadership team

For many scaling businesses, this is where the greatest leverage lies.

We work with you and your leadership team, individually and collectively, to expand leadership capacity across the business. The exact shape of the work depends on what will create the greatest shift for you, the team and the business.

The mechanism isn’t the story.
What matters is what changes.

Increase and amplify the leadership capacity of the business so that more of its potential can be turned into performance, growth and value.

And my aim isn’t to become another person you or your team depend upon for answers.

I want to increase your collective capacity to create better answers yourselves.

When I began working with one founder and his C-suite, he had recently stepped back into the CEO role. Results were down, a major customer had lost confidence and it was clear the leadership structure wasn’t yet capable of taking the business where it needed to go.

Difficult decisions followed. The leadership team was restructured, the organisation streamlined and a stronger vision created. Our work focused on expanding the leadership capacity of the founder and C-suite, individually and collectively.

The shift has been significant.

Two C-suite leaders in particular have grown enormously in confidence and stepped into much greater leadership. The team is now genuinely working as one, more collaborative, aligned around the vision and values, and much clearer about the company’s competitive edge and how to leverage it.

And that increased capacity is translating into commercial momentum.

New contracts and opportunities are emerging. Assumptions that had constrained international expansion have been challenged, with projects now happening around the world. And the major customer that had lost confidence has recommitted strongly, seeing the company as an important partner.

Meanwhile, the founder is increasingly externally focused, spending more of his energy where his particular genius creates the greatest value. And with succession firmly in place under the new CEO, the company is building the leadership capacity to thrive beyond its founder.

Expand leadership capability and commercial possibility background

Expand leadership capability and you can expand commercial possibility.

How much more could this business create?

If you’re reading this, I suspect you can see considerably more ahead.

Scaling doesn’t have to mean simply adding more people, more hours or more pressure. It can mean expanding and amplifying what is already there, and increasing the organisation’s capacity to turn potential into commercial value.

So I’ll leave you with one question:

How much more could this business create if you and the leaders around you were operating at the highest level of your capability?

If that question makes you curious, let’s talk.
